Permutations and Combinations: An Introduction
While mathematics is one of the most interesting subjects which JEE entails, it has the trickiest chapters up its sleeves. Be its probability, the solution of triangles or permutations and combinations, each of these chapters requires your best focus and dedication. Here we present you the key concepts and formulas to help you build a strong base for the chapter Permutations and combinations.
In mathematics, the concept of permutation describes the practice of arranging all the members of a set into a particular sequence or order, or if the set is already ordered, rearranging (reordering) its elements. This process is called permuting. These are not at all similar to combinations, which are selections of some members of a set where the order is of no significance. Hence, a combination is a way of selecting items from a collection of items, such that (unlike permutations) the order of selection does not matter.
